The newly constructed Sprint campus consists of 21 buildings, including a 12,000 ton central plant. For this project as with all of their other new construction projects, Sprint contracted the TAB and commissioning of this project directly with it’s previously selected firms.

ViroCon recently completed the field services for the commissioning of Sprint’s new World Headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas, a quiet suburb of south Kansas City. This $985,000,000 campus is situated on 200 acres and encompasses 22 buildings and 16 parking structures.

ViroCon’s team is providing the following commissioning services:

  • Review of the mechanical design documents for constructability, operational issues and commissionability
  • Mechanical system startup
  • Functional testing of mechanical systems
  • Mechanical system training
  • Troubleshooting of equipment and controls
  • Owner representation in resolving manufacturer related claims.
  • Testing, adjusting, and balancing of all the air and hydronic systems for 22 buildings
  • Testing, adjusting, and balancing of a 12,000 ton central utility plant.

Throughout this 5 year project, our field team identified thousands of deficiencies that required corrective action by the design team, contractors and equipment manufacturers. The end result was speedy repairs of faulty systems and the ability to bring 22 buildings and a central utility plant on line, to meet schedule requirements.
